UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY SERVICE

LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR'S 33rd ANNIVERSARY MESSAGE

May 2007

President Huit, members of the Board, fellow Kiwanians of the Kiwanis Club of Spanish Town, on behalf of the clubs in Division 23 West and the District let me express our sincere congratulations on this, your 33rd Anniversary.

The Kiwanis Club of Spanish Town has seen many good years and has performed exceptionally well in providing altruistic service to the communities in and around the Spanish Town area.  The citizens are undoubtedly grateful for the amenities provided.

Several projects have been successfully undertaken that have benefited innumerable persons.  I have had the distinct pleasure of visiting some of your projects, to witness the camaraderie, and to share in the usual fun and fellowship that followed.

The fact that the club has consistently achieved distinguished status is testimony of the club’s unwavering commitment to community service.  I expect that this trend will continue based on the resources and knowledge that exist within your club that will guide incoming administrations.  I share in the pride of your achievements.

Of note, is the support that the Kiwanis Club of Spanish Town gives to numerous events staged by other clubs both in and out of the Division.  Also, the club ensures that it is represented by a delegation to both conventions yearly. I commend the club on these initiatives that I am sure will be maintained.

In closing, let me again congratulate you on achieving this milestone.  It is my desire that the citizens of your community will continue to benefit from the light of your charitable work.   May you continue to be guided and protected by the Almighty as you give unselfishly to the good of this country, Jamaica, land we love.
