He has started this group on 5th January 2001 with the catch line "to make U feel the
essence of your *own* mitti". He is basically from Almora currently working as a
System Manager in Aditya Birla Group Company at Calcutta (Kolkata) . His hobbies are
Reading ,writing articles, Making Friends ,Listening music, Net surfing, Announcing. He
loves his kumauni culture and wants to save it.

working as Senior Scientist at Suntory Pharmaceutical Research Labs, Cambridge,
Massachusetts, USA. He has wonderful family, wife and two kids 8 year old and 2 year old.

CONSULTANT. Last year he joined Coca-cola company as a permanent employee in Atlanta.

her family shifted to Lucknow. She completed her studies in Lucknow and then shifted to

Noida in 1999( again topped All India Exam for DBMS in " A" level). She got
married with Mr. Hitesh Verma . He is also from Almora though now his parents are settled
in Delhi and did his M. Tech from Moscow. She has a plan of giving Civil Services sometime
in the near future and wish to serve the hills to the fullest if possible.

Deepak joined the group on 25th October. He is from Pithoragarh. Grew up mostly
in Bombay(Mumbai). Completed his studies at IISc, Bangalore and worked couple of
years at TCS, Madras before shifting to US. Currently he is working for Nationwide
Insurance at Columbus, Ohio. He got married in 1994 with Manju at Bombay. She is from
Berinag, in Uttarakhand but brought up mostly in Bombay. She works with her husband for
Nationwide Insurance at Columbus ,Ohio. They were blessed with a son Rohit in 1997.

Prakash Chandra
He is basically from Village-Purna, Post-Dewal. This region is in the borders of Garhwal and Kumaon and shares language and culture from both the parts. His parents are settled in Delhi. Presently, he is living with parents and younger brother in Delhi itself. He completed hi primary education from Hills and then shifted to Delhi. Finally did his Engineering from Delhi and Joined Tata Consultancy Services. He is working for TCS, for almost five years now. He has intense liking for the Pahar, its people and Culture. He loves to spend time there.Hobbies-->listening to music, reading, sports and travelling. We should use the group to help each other...whenever required and also provide as much support as possible for the development of Pahar and its people.

He has been born and brought up in Dehradun , he belongs to Patia (Almora) , his
nanihal is in Salam (infact he has been to both his ancestral villages and would love to
do so as an when he gets an opportunity).He did his b.tech from HBTI kanpur in telecomm
Engg. and since then working in Satyam computers , Hyderabad .Presently he is located near
New York .His parents are in dehradun presently , ijaa is a school teacher and babu has
retired after serving ONGC . His younger brother is working in Infosys and presently in
Philadelphia ,US.
He would sincerely like to retain the rich cultural heritage he has been exposed to living
in predominantly Kumaoni society in Dehradun,He relishes kumaoni food ,he can still
vividly remember the various "Holi Kee baithaks" and other festivals that people
used to celebrate, but as he says "which have become really extinct even in kumaoni
dominant places like dehradun, as a community we might not be very large in number but
anyway I would like people in India and abroad whichever place they are to come in contact
with each other, through mails or better through personal meetings and propagate this
sincere effort by Mr.karnatak to other people by word of mouth or any other medium. One
thing more I would like to learn to speak kumaoni , which I dont know can be fulfilled by
this group but anybody willing to give me some information on where I can learn it would
be surely
most welcome.Also whether this group can be evolved into an NGO can also be

Born in District Pithoragarh, Uttaranchal. Basic schooling in village and subsequently from Delhi. Done DCO from IGNOU and currently pursuing MCA. At present he is working in National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi -16 as Technical Assistant. Can contribute to the group in designing and updating online magazine/patrika, content development, copy editing. Born in kathgodam and did his schooling from there only.Basically his father belongs to Village Chahaj of gangolihat and mother from Village Jakh of Pithoragarh.now they are well settled in Haldwani. afetr his schooling he did Hotel Management from Bhopal and then came to New Zealand for further studies and now he is settled in Wellington, New Zealand working with a international Fast Food Chain as Restaurant Manager.He is proud of his cultureand the values he has got from this.

Born at a small place called Tekanpur near Gwalior, he was brought up at different places like Rajasthan, Gujrat, tripura, J&K, Punjab,UP (Lucknow) etc. He has done Msc Comp Science and presently working as a software professional in Noida.He came to know about this group through a friend who is working with him.Recently got married.

He was born in Almora. Lived there for 5 years before coming to mumbai. He did his
Computer Engineering from Mumbai, and worked there for 3 years. After finishing his MS in
pittsburgh, he is currently a software engineer at seattle. HIs interests include
travelling

Ravi: Originally from Ranikhet but settled in Faridabad.At present working with Nokia in Dallas,Texas. he did his engineering from Pune.
Anjuli: Originally from Ramnagar but settled in Delhi.Her father's side family members
r settled in Haldwani now .Mom is from Bhowali. She did her Masters from Delhi University
in Math and B.Ed too.
Miss Kuntal Mishra
A post graduate in Physics from Kumaon University, working towards her Ph.D. degree in
the field of Astronomy & Astrophysics at the State Observatory, Nainital as a Junior
Research Fellow ( J.R.F.). She belongs to the Dipdiya village, Distt.Almora. Her
grandafather was a well known historian ofKumaon, Late Shri Nitya Nand Mishra.

He is presently working as a senior research fellow (S.R.F.) at the State Observatory,
Nainital towards my Ph.D. degree in the field of Solar Physics. He graduated from Kanpur
University and did his masters in Physics from Kumaon University, Nainital. He was born
and brought up in RaeBareli. He belongs to Village Masmauli, Distt. Pithoragarh. Presently
his parents r settled in Haldwani.
Shailesh Mishra
Born in Lucknow but moved to Nainital at the age of 4 as his father joined the
Kumaun University. He did his Class II & III in the Balika Vidya Mandir (It was
a co-ed then!!). Joined Bishop at the Daat for my IV & Vth and then joined the St.
Joseph's College and spent some of the best time of his life. Presently he lives in Noida
and work for Adobe Systems as a software engineer.As per him " I left Kumaun
but Kumaun never left me. Whenever i get the time i go to my favourite hideouts in Kumaun
and spend some time with my 1 yr old son Aditya and my wife Aditi."

He belongs to Jhupulchoura(Someshwar) Almora.Currently, working with R & D Center
of a oil PSU, at Faridabad .He is married. His wife is from Dharanaula, Almora. He
loves Kumauni culture and traditions and feel its conservation and cultivation necessary.

brought up in Mumbai.He has been connected with print and television media and at present

Naresh PathakHe basically belongs to Village Nirkot, Masi (Almora) of Kumaun. Snce long time back his family got settled in Delhi.He is working as an administrative Assistant in a US based Pharmaceutical Company in Delhi and alo perusing BCA from IGNOU, Delhi. a Civil engr. Currently she is in final semester of M Tech at IIT Bombay. She is
leaving for USA in August to pursue her doctoral studies. She is happy to be a part of

He is born and brought up in Delhi with roots of pahar ( Bageshwar) , unfortunateley not
visited the pahar for very long time and found this forum as the best place to keep touch
with all pahari people. Currently he is working with a software MNC in pune.
