Kappa Kappa Psi - Beta Delta Chapter

History In the Spring of 1948, a group of dedicated bandsmen known as the Progressive Bandmaster's Association of Sam Houston State Teachers' College petitioned for membership in Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity.

The Progressive Bandmaster's Association existed solely to promote the welfare and recognition of the Bearkat Band and the future bandmasters being trained in it, and to advance the appreciation of good music in the student body and faculty of Sam Houston State Teachers' College.

On May 15, 1948, the Progressive Bandmaster's Association was granted a charter in Kappa Kappa Psi. There were 26 charter members and 9 alumni members.
