These Days

If greatest hits album 'Cross Road' reminded the world of what a great rock'n'roll band Bon Jovi are, 'These days' proved there's still plenty left in the tank for the road ahead. 'These Days' has been called the consummate Bon Jovi album; a tall order, but it's difficult to argue with songs as good as these. Bon Jovi can still break your heart one minutes and rock your socks off the next. Check out 'Lie To Me' and 'Hey God' for proof. Best of all is the album's title track, a song which is to Bon Jovi what 'Born To Run' is to Bruce Springsteen. Fame, money and the rock'n'roll life couldn't kill Bon Jovi. Nor could fluctuating rock fashion. That's because great rock music never goes out of style. 'These Days' testifies to that. - Paul Elliott (Kerrang!)

BON JOVI / THESE DAYS

(Originally reviewed for week ending 6/24/95)

So long as the demand keeps up for good, solid, pop/rock
music, there will be a place on the charts for Bon Jovi. With a
collection of well-written rockers and ballads, the Jersey band
proves it still belongs on top 40 and album rock airwaves and
in the hearts of its fans. Among the selections that provide the
greatest potential at the above formats and crossover potential
into such areas as AC and hard rock are heavy opener
``Something For The Pain,' power ballads ``This Ain't A Love
Song' and ``Lie To Me,' and the title track. An album that finds
a band sticking by its guns, and succeeding.
