- A Very Special Christmas Live From Washington D.C. Just going out to get this album, it's amazingly cold in Bangkok like never before. OK, here's info. The album has got 2 live songs by Jon and a track by various artists including him. Please Come Home For Christmas is as good as I thought but the song that I'm really excited about is "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) since I don't familiar with any other X'mas tunes than Jingle Bell. ^_^ © 1999 Universal Music : Jon Bon Jovi appears courtesy of the Island Def Jam Music Group. |

100 YEARS JON and RICHIE wrote a song called
"NEXT 100 YEARS" which has been translated into Japanese so that a Japanese supergroup (called J-FRIENDS) could record it as a charity single to benefit the Kobe Relief Fund. J-FRIENDS is a combo platter of members from the biggest boy bands in Japan (sort of what would happen if you threw a few Backstreet Boys, a couple of 'N Sync guys and maybe the brothers from 98O into a studio together...) The J-FRIENDS version of "NEXT 100 YEARS" will be premiered in Japan in late December at a live event in front of 50,000 people and members of the press. Last year, Michael Jackson wrote the song for J-FRIENDS and it sold more than one million copies, here's hoping the Jon & Richie's composition does even better. Sorry, no plans for the song to be released outside of Japan. And remember, Jon and Richie aren't ON the record, they're the songwriters. - Taken from BWJBJ (4.12.99) < Check back soon. Maybe I'll be able to get this song for you.> |
- A VERY SPECIAL CHRISTMAS LIVE! Last December, JON BON JOVI participated in "A Very Special Christmas
from Washington, D.C.", a live concert at The White House to benefit Special
Olympics. This October 19th, the live album from that event will be released on CD. A VERY
SPECIAL CHRISTMAS LIVE! will include JON's rendition of "CHRISTMAS
(BABY, PLEASE COME HOME)" as well as tracks by Mary J. Blige, Eric Clapton,
Tracy Chapman, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Blues Traveler's John Popper, Run DMC and
Vanessa Williams. The A Very Special Christmas project was born in 1987 when then-record producer Jimmy Iovine hoped to honor the memory of his late father with a superstar Christmas lbum. Jimmy's wife Vicki Iovine - who had been volunteering for Special Olympics - suggested doing the record as a benefit. The album (which included BON JOVI's live recording of "Back Door Santa") sold millions and was greeted with tremendous critical acclaim. The follow-up, A Very Special Christmas 2, included Jon Bon Jovi's version of "Please Come Home For Christmas", which inspired the steamy Herb Ritts' directed video featuring Jon and Cindy Crawford. Jon Bon Jovi has a long history of supporting and working with Special Olympics and is continuing that tradition by participating in this special live album. Pick up a CD for yourself and as gifts for friends and family. The proceeds go to benefit a wonderful cause. - Taken from bonjovi.com. (05/11/99) |
- CURRENT
UPDATES : While JON BON JOVI's WWII movie U-571 is due out
in April and his indie drama Row Your Boat is looking for a distributor (it, and Jon, won raves at several film festivals so far), the singer-actor has turned down other roles and appearances in order to concentrate on the record BON JOVI is trying to complete for spring release. Recording the as yet untitled record (Sex Sells is only a working title) in New Jersey, the band keeps a tape of the classic American Graffiti running constantly in the studio for inspiration. Last week Jon and the band had a surprise visitor, thanks to friends: PAUL LeMAT, the actor who played their favorite character John Milner, showed up at the studio. - Metal Edge - Thanks to Chris. - NEW RECORD : "JON BON JOVI is among
the artists participating in the recording of a cover of the ROLLING STONES' "It's Only Rock N' Roll (But I Like It)" that will benefit Children's Promise and will, like "We Are The World," be part of a forthcoming charity CD, video, and TV special that will be available in December. Other artists approached but not confirmed include AXL ROSE and OZZY OSBOURNE. Bon Jovi will not, however, take part in the NetAid benefit on October 8, as was previously announced. " - Metal Edge - Thanks to Chris. (6/10/99) |
- NEW ALBUM : Bon Jovi are busy in New Jersey, writing and demoing new songs for their first studio album since 1995's 'These Days'. The late Bruce Fairburn was originally tipped to co-produce the LP - tentatively titled 'Sex Sells' - and it is unclear whether his former assistant Bob Rock will now take the reins. Rock is currently working with Metallica on the symphonic live album which they recorded last year. - Kerrang , Runaway (28.08.99) |

HBO series "Sex and the City." (The brainchild of Darren Star, the handsome
creator of "Melrose Place" and the still-running "Beverly Hills
90210.") Jon, who has made a successful leap from shaggy-haired rocker to adept
and charming actor, appears in an episode titled "Games People Play." He's a
photographer who becomes involved with the series' star, Sarah Jessica Parker. They meet at a psychiatrist's office. Jon's episode airs Aug. 29. - Runaway (28.08.99) |

- Athletes get a lift from Bon Jovi Rock star Jon Bon Jovi attended a powerlifting clinic Sunday and came up short against Pauline Naturile and her New Jersey teammates.Naturile, a 20-year veteran of Special Olympics, and her teammates each completed their sets, lifting 300 pounds. Bon Jovi has been involved with Special Olympics since the late 1980s and attended his first World Games in 1991 in Minnesota. "It's great to see how the Games have grown since then," he said. Bon Jovi credits the spirit of the athletes for his involvement with the Games. "The athletes like to win, but that's not the main thing for them," he said. "They get a chance to do things they don't often get a chance to do, but most of all they're here to make new friends. It's truly inspiring to watch people from my home state of New Jersey making friends with people from Africa, Asia and Europe." Bon Jovi is one of the artists on the newest Special Olympics Christmas album due out in December. "You don't have to have an athlete in the Games or know anything about Special Olympics to become addicted," Bon Jovi said.~ Emma (Runaway) (01/07/99) |
