Injured Indonesian policeman moved to Singapore
An Indonesian police officer severely injured in last week's bombing of the Australian
embassy in Jakarta has been airlifted to Singapore for treatment at Canberra's
expense.
A statement from the office of Australia's Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer, did not
identify the officer, one of about 180 civilians and security personnel wounded in the
attack, which killed nine people.
The police officer is reportedly suffering from severe head injuries and is in a coma.
The officer has been transferred to the private Mount Elizabeth Hospital where an
Australian girl, who lost her Indonesian mother in the car bombing, is also under
treatment.
Doctors say five-year-old Elisabeth Manuela Bambina Musu suffered significant brain
injury and may have to stay in Singapore for an extensive period to recuperate.
