Indonesian police investigate discovery of bomb at railway
station
Indonesian police are conducting a manhunt after a small bomb was discovered at a
rural railway station, south of the capital, Jakarta.
The discovery comes as the country's Muslims begin the holy month of Ramadan.
The device was found at the quiet station of Cicurug in Bogor district, which is also
home to Indonesia's president-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The bomb was not in an area close to his house.
Indonesia has been rocked by three major terrorist attacks in the past two years, with
the most serious incident in Bali two years ago claiming 202 lives.
Last year a bomb at the Marriott hotel in Jakarta killed 12 and in September a suicide
bomber killed nine people outside the Australian embassy in Jakarta.
Police have blamed those attacks on suspects linked to the Jemaah Islamiyah
extremist network which authorities say has some ties to al Qaeda.
