Police hunt down six men for attacks on churches in Palu
JAKARTA (AFP): Indonesian police said Tuesday they were searching for six men
suspected of involvement in bombing attacks on Christian churches in the strife-torn
province of Central Sulawesi on the weekend.
Detectives had obtained descriptions of the six assailants from witnesses of the bomb
and gun attacks on the Emanuel and Anugerah churches in the provincial capital
Palu, said provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Aryanto Sutadi.
"They are now being hunted down. We have reason to believe that they came from
Poso town," Aryanto told AFP.
He said a security guard for the one of the churches told detectives that the two
suspects he saw were "stocky and well-built men."
"The security guard tried to stop one of them from throwing the bomb into the church
but in the process he was shot in the arm and leg," Aryanto said. (*)
