National Police Chief: Bombing Modus Same as JW Marriott
Hotel and Bali Bombings
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar has said that the
bombing incident in front of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta indicated just how
capable terrorists were in recruiting new people to commit suicide bombings.
"From the temporary investigation, we are assuming that the perpetrators were from
the same group who committed the JW Marriott and Bali bombings, Dr. Azahari's
group," said Bachtiar at the bombing location in Jakarta on Thursday (09/09).
He added that the targets set by these terrorists had been fixed, and included the
British, Australian, and US Embassies as well as the National Police headquarters
and the anti-terrorism training center in Semarang, Central Java.
Bachtiar said that that the bombing incident came from a bomb car.
"We're still investigating whether or not there was a person in the car," he stated.
According to Bachtiar, the bombing was confirmed to have come from a car as this
car was reportedly going into the slow lane around one meter from the front of the
Australian Embassy's office. (M. Fasabeni - Tempo News Room)
