Funeral mass for William J. DeFlorio, 78, of Willowick, will
be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 460 East 321 St., Willowick.
Mr. DeFlorio died July 17, 2004, at Hospice House in Cleveland. Born on January 8, 1926,
in Cleveland, he lived in Cleveland before moving to Willowick 53 years ago.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He
was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Magnificate Council #4498 in Willowick, past
commander of American Legion Post #678 in Willowick, and was a founding member of St. Mary
Magdalene Church.
Mr. DeFlorio worked as a machinist at Warner and Swasey for 40 years before his retirement
in 1985. He also worked for Tony's Shell in Mayfield.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Louise (DelBrocco); daughter, Mary Louise (Joseph)
Schwab; sons, Bud (Susan) and Frank (Denise) DeFlorio; grandchildren, Bill Schwab, Amy
Charney, Michael DeFlorio, and Thomas DeFlorio; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew;
sisters, Marion Herbst and Sarah Gargano; and many nieces and nephews. His brother,
Frank DeFlorio, is deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Jack Monreal Funeral Home of
Willowick, East 320 St. and Vine St. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield
Heights.
The family suggests contributions to Hospice House of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley
Road, Mentor, 44060.
