Services for Lawrence M. Hayes, 88, of Willowick,
will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, E. 321 and Vine St., in
Willowick.
Mr. Hayes died May 8, 2002, at Stratford Commons in Glen Willow.
Born Feb. 12, 1914, in Cleveland, he lived in Willowick for 50 years.
He was a Past Grand Knight and member of Knights of Columbus Magnificat Council 4498 in
Willowick. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Hayes was employed as the manager of Western Auto Store for 33 years, retiring in
1974. Prior to that, he worked as a clerk to the Lake County Commissioners.
Survivors are his daughters, Ginger (James) Murphy and Kathleen (Charles) Mockbee;
sons, Tom (Debra) Hayes and Jim (Madeline) Hayes; grandchildren, Jerry (Diana) Murphy,
Jennifer (Jose) Murphy-Torres, Julia (Greg) Murphy-Breedlove, Jon (Brenda), Matthew,
Michael and Amanda Mockbee and Lauren Hayes; and five great-grandchildren.
His wife, Marie (Galavan), died in Nov. 1998. His sisters, Kathleen Noonan, Nora
O'Leary, Margaret Green and Patricia Lucia, and brothers, Thomas and Gerald Hayes, are
also deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Jack Monreal Funeral Home of
Willowick, 31925 Vine St. The Rev. Fr. John Singler of St. Mary Magdalene Church will
officiate at services. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
