Services for Leo F. Shaffer, 85, of Willowick, will be 11:30
a.m. Friday at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 460 E. 321 Street, Willowick.
Mr. Shaffer died Dec. 26, 2000, at the Hospice House in Cleveland.
Born Sept. 1, 1915, in Portage, Pa., he lived in St. Mary's, Pa., before moving to
Willowick 43 years ago.
Mr. Shaffer was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus-Magnificat, Council #4498
in Willowick. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and visiting with neighbors and family. Mr.
Shaffer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was employed by Service Stamping Inc. as a purchasing agent for 23 years, retiring
in 1980. Prior to that his family owned Shaffer Quality Ice Cream in St. Mary's, Pa.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Rose (Brosky); son, Leo Jr. (Nancy) of Mentor;
daughters, Karen (Carmen) Buttari of Mentor and Sharon (Philip) Melaragno of Chardon;
grandchildren, Dan, Kelly, Joe and Randy; great-grandson, Dominic; and brother, George
Shaffer of St. Mary's, Pa.
His son, Michael; sisters, Sr. Mary Aubrey and Sr. Mary David; and brother, Jim, are
deceased.
The Rev. Fr. Ted Lucas of St. Mary Magdalene will officiate at services. A private
burial will be held in Willoughby Downtown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of the Western
Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, 44060. |
