MUST HAVE ITEMS TO SHOW KOIWhen you enter koi in a show there are a few simple items you need to have. a koi net and a show bowl. Most shows will have a show net and bowl but there are reasons to have your own. First, owning your own net and bowl gives you the ability
to handle, inspect fish for parasites or other health reasons and photograph
your own fish at home. Second, it makes judging your fish easy for the judges. Your fish can be left in the bowl while floating in the tank while the judges make final decisions. Third, the possibility of spreading bacterial or viral
infection is reduced. Not sharing a net and bowl will protect your fish and
others from contamination. New fish are brought to a show with no known history.
Disinfected nets and bowls are not as safe. When all we had to worry about was
parasites things it was ok to share equipment and even mix fish but today we
need better protocols. Aqutic-Eco sells them here is a few choices. These are links right to the order pages.
Other things to have will be plastic shipping bags to put your fish in
Lastly you may want to own your own oxygen bottle and regulator. You can find them at welding supply or medical supply places. Welding oxygen is widely used and cost about $100 for a set-up. These are at harborfreight.com if you can not find it local or want to compare price.
One more item to own is a quarantine system. It is common to pick up fish at a show and having a QT waiting is nice.
