KOI SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS

Tropical Koi Show and Sale
January 15 and 16, 2005

 ENTRY

 1.       This is an English style show open to koi hobbyists. Club affiliation is not required.  All fish shown must be the personal and private property of the registrant. This is a hobbyist show and therefore is not open to persons deriving significant income as a koi dealer or from selling imported fish

 2.       Fish registration is open from 8 to 10 am, Saturday January 15th and by prior arrangement, from 4-6 pm Friday, January 16th.

 3.       FEE: PRE-REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY with a reservation fee of $25 a 6’. A $5 per fish fee is assessed for more then 5 fish. The fee should be postmarked no later than January 11th. Early registration is encouraged to insure availability of a tank

 4. An individual photo of each fish is needed at the time of benching. Please try to bring your photo to the show.  Photos will be available at a cost of $8 per photo.

DELIVERY & REMOVAL OF FISH

1.       For the protection and health of your koi, feeding should be discontinued for a minimum of 5 days prior to the show.

 2.       Entrants must remain at registration area until all paperwork is done for registration and their fish have been benched and released into their appropriate tanks.

 3.       Entrants must supply their own net and plastic tub to bowl their fish. Nets and bowls may be available on a limited basis

4.       Fish deemed by the entry committee to be showing signs of disease, significant injury, or deformity WILL NOT is allowed to show. New injuries considered the judges might forgive temporary

 5.       The KOI ENTRY FORM must be completely filled out, signed and full payment of entry fees made prior to fish being accepted into the show. If you are unsure of a classification or size, make your best guess. The benching committee will measure and classify each fish.

 6.       Fish will be on display for the duration of the show, until 3 pm on Sunday, January 19th. Whether you are renting a tank or bringing your own, please make your travel plans and flight times accordingly.

 

7.       NO fish may be removed from the show site without notifying a fish attendant.

 8.       ALL fish must be claimed and picked up by 4:30 pm on Sunday, January 16. Tropical Koi Club will not be responsible for fish not claimed by this time. Show officials to avoid problems of fish identification and/or ownership issues will check out fish.


 

JUDGING

 

1.       Judging will begin at 11 am on Saturday, January 15th.

 2.       Prior to judging, the Show Committee for disease and significant injury will review all fish and to assure the fish are entered in the proper size and class. No one other than the judges, Show Committee, fish handlers, or water quality personnel will be allowed inside the inner show tank area.

3.       Judging will be open to silent viewing with no comments or questions from the audience.

 4.       A Koi Identification session may be held on Sunday to discuss the various classifications and types of fish.

5.       Move Ups will fill slots of fish moved to Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, Best Mature, Best Young, Best in size and Best in variety.

 6.       NO ONE is allowed to handle any fish except the judges and fish handlers. Anyone wishing to inspect his or her personal fish must first contact the Koi Show Chairperson.

 7.       GIN RIN: Koi with Kin Gin Rin marking may be entered in the Kinginrin category or in the appropriate non-Gin Rin category. Please write your preference on the KOI ENTRY FORM. No changes can be made after the fact.

 8.       The decisions of the Show Committee are FINAL. They will decide any contingencies not covered by these rules.

9.     Previous  Grand Champions are  eligible to repeat as Grand Champion.

 AWARDS

Awards will be presented Saturday evening, January 15that approximately 5:30 PM at the Show Site. The judges will share their observations regarding the positive attributes of the koi and comment about the features of the winning fish. Trophies and ribbons will be presented.

Note: Doitsu and Tancho will compete in their normal variety class

 Ribbons will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each variety

Additional Awards may be presented.
Visiting Members from other clubs are encouraged to award a Friendship Trophy.
