Miscarriage and Stillbirth Grief: | Page 3 |
There are many difficulties for the parents who are
suffering the Grief over the death of their baby to overcome.
The most difficult is the lack of understanding of the differences of the Grief Reactions of men and woman. While there are similarities there is also great diversity in the way that men and women deal with their Grief. To obtain a greater understanding of the way that partners endeavour to cope with their Grief would certainly go a long way to overcome the many marriage and relationship breakdowns. I believe that the primary contributing cause of ALL marriage and relationship breakdowns is unresolved Grief. Many mothers have stated that the Grief over the miscarriage or the Stillbirth of their baby, is the LONELIEST GRIEF of all. This is because it is very difficult for most fathers to fully appreciate the depth of pain of the loss of the baby. We are told that the bonding of the mother with the baby commences for many women soon after she knows that she has conceived and is carrying a life in her womb. For most men, the bonding with the child only occurs after the baby is born and he is holding his child in his arms. So no matter how much he loves his wife, the man finds it hard to relate to the same depth of pain of the loss of the baby. |
