Mr. Cossey, you should be commended for your efforts related to this web site. I did not know it existed. By luck I found it and I will tell all my friends about it. I was with the Department of Correction when Sgt. Scott Grimes was killed in the line of uty. I remember to this day hearing the news when I was the Training Officer at the Diagnostic Unit in Pine Bluff. It was a very dismal day in our Department. I am friends with Susi Grimes (Scotts Wife) and she teaches or speaks at the Arkansas Department of Correction Training Academy occasionally where I am the Training Supervisor. Our environment that we work in is very dangerous and I have the greatest respect for anyone accepting its daily challenges. I recently visited the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. and was very impressed with the site. I felt extremley honored to be standing on the site where our fallen officers are remembered. My father is Grady E. "Buck" Guin. He was the Chief of Police in Lepanto from 1946-1975 (illness forced him to retire). During this time, he served as an appointed special deputy U.S. Marshal and held a Poinsett County deputy Sheriff's Commission for 35 y ars. He was also a founder, charter member and past President of the Northeast Arkansas Peace Officers Association. In all the years as police officer, he never shot anyone and was never shot himself although he encountered several dangerous situations wh re he was shot at. July 15, 1996, he passed away of congestive heart failure. He truly loved what he did and he would think that this is a wonderful tribute.(I recognized some of the officers because of some of the stories told in our house). This is so t oughtful and such a beautiful tribute.Even though my father was not killed in the line of duty, I would be honored if you would please add my father's name to your list. God Bless all of these families and GOD BLESS YOU for all your efforts.

hello. i was looking at your memorial and i couldn't help but remember some of the officers that i knew of that died. scott grimes was a relly good friend of my aunt's and his daughter rebecca was also a good friend of mine. officers love and watson form he sheridan p.d/ were killed just before i moved there. it is sad the way they had to go but i am sure they would have much rather died for someone else than to have lived their lives in vain.

I served J'ville from 1972 to 1984. I knew many of the men listed on this site. Most that I knew were good friends. One man has stuck with me for 26 years. Van Wilson literally died in my arms. I gave hime CPR for about 45 minutes after he got shot and until we got him to the hospital. He came and went many times. Van left saying how much he loved his wife and that he would see her again. Van was probably th most pleasant, and polite person I knew in law enforcement. I'll go to my grave remembering him. Van was my friend.

My father Captain Fred L. Odom (Troop D) passed away on November 9, 1998 after a long and painful struggle. He was forced to retire in July 1986 because the doctors told him he needed a heart transplant. Although he wasnt killed in the line of duty he was still given an honor guard and a 21 gun salute at his funeral. I like what you've done with your page.I would appreciate it if his name were put in the memorial. Thank you

My name is Angela and I am a volunteer for a site www.GROWW.com which was started to help people who had lost loved ones. On January 12,1998 my husband, a 22 year old Deputy Sheriff, was shot and killed in the line of duty. I needed a place to turn for he p. It really helped me to talk to others who had lost a loved one. Since then, the site has decided to form a room for those lost in uniform. They have asked me to host it.
