Letter to the readers
Dear readers,
May and issue no.19 of theProletarische Rundschau(Proletarian Review)
have come at last! One topic–according to the season–is theHistory
and presence of“First May”. Referring to the60th anniversary
of the liberation of Mauthausen concentration campwe bring
a joint statement of Austrian and foreign communist organisations. With a poem
of the Austrian communist writer Auguste Lazar we remind of the women of Ravensbrück
(concentration camp). Another poem, in a cheerful tone, by Hanns Dieter Hüsch
perfectly fits to theblue-orange burlesqueof spring 2005 (i.e.
split of the Haider Party into two and moving of all government members from
Freedom Party to“Movement Future Austria”, the translator). Referring
to the topic offascisationwe bring an article from“Guernica”,
the paper of“Workshop for Peace and Solidarity”, Linz. This text throws a light
on the function of the federal army as an instrument of repression. The Austrian
army has a reputation for having put down the anti-fascist rebellion of the
Austrian working class in February 1934 as well as for staying within their
barracks in the days of the invasion of the Hitler fascist troops in March
1938.
Other articles deal with the poorsituation of the employees in restaurantsandunemployed
people.
Then we publish a detailed article from“Rote Fahne”(Red Flag) of MLPÖabout
the situation inSudanwhere especially the role of the Austrian
imperialism is exposed. Another article deals with the current imperialist
threat againstIranthat can suddenly change into a military
aggression at any time.
You will also find the third part of the article about theKurd liberation
strugglein this issue. Moreover we inform about theRepressions
against the revolutionary paper“yeni dünya icin Cagri / Call for a new
world”in Turkey/Northern Kurdistan. We want to call your attention
to our continuingcollection campaignfor this paper. In Turkish
language we bring the next part of theHistory of the Austrian working-classmovementand
an article on the occasion of the90th anniversary of the massacre and
deportation of the Armenians by the Turkish state.
In the theoretical part of our issue we deal with the question why revolutionary
communists in Austria necessarily place themselves in thetradition
of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Austria (MLPÖ). Then we publish
an excerpt from atalk of Clara Zetkin with Lenin on women's matter.
Moreover we deal with two important newpublications(both
in German, the translator): Eugen Varga,“Or will the present situation
be eternal?”. As a documentation we bring the editorial preface to the reprint,
that has recently been organised by ML-Lit Distribution. We have received a
letter on this publication that we don't want to withhold from you. The other
important reprint was made already one year ago by“Rote Fahne”of MLPÖund
the German organisation“Learning to fight”:“For an international Marxist-Leninist
general line”(Criticism of the“Great Polemics”of the 1960ies). Both publications
(in German) can be ordered from“ML-LitVertrieb”(ML-Lit Distribution).
We wish you much fun when reading and look forward to your suggestions, critique
and recommendations for improvement,
your PR editorial collective
