Dan Cloutier Page

Dan Cloutier answered all of the questions surrounding whether or not he could handle to #1 goalie position with a tremendous season. When countless goalies departed Vancouver such as Arturs Irbe, Sean Burke, Kevin Weekes, Felix Potvin and Bob Essensa, many people were dis-believers that Cloutier would be any different. The tandem of Cloutier and Martin Brochu seemed quite risky. Not only did Dan keep the Canucks in the game most nights, but he played a huge role in the team's success, posting a mind-boggling 7 shutouts, tying the club record. Dan Cloutier is considered one of the top young goalies in the NHL, and potentially a premier goalie. He was drafted by the Rangers in the first round of the 1994 Entry Draft, where he spent two seasons as the backup to Mike Richter. Dan celebrated 31 victories this season.
