Secrets

Prologue

      "Throw one more nerd at me Garu and I swear I'll slap you!" Ayame Kaoru demanded to a young green-haired boy as she brushed a tiny piece of purple candy from her long cotton-blonde hair.
      "Oh, shut it girl!" Gareas Elidd snapped back, and again flipped another purple nerd in Ayame's face.
      Ayame's eyes lit up and she growled deep in her throat before she tackled Gareas, pinning him to the ground. With her small body holding down his and her lips close to his ear she whispered, "Always and forever."
      "Ayame! Get off him this instant!" Their second grade teacher called. She ran over to Ayame and pried her off Gareas but not before Ayame slapped him hard across the cheek.
      Gareas sat up with a shocked face as he slowly lifted a hand to his cheek where he had been slapped. He watched as the teacher packed a scowling Ayame away. "Woah...." He mused.
