I WANT TO LIVE IN YOUR HEART
Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Good morning! What a warm day we had yesterday! It looks as if we will
have
another warm day as the sun is shining brightly already. My visitor
came
yesterday and there is a change in her already. I am sure your prayers
have
been a great help.
In my prayer early this morning, I spent the time with Jesus who spoke
saying, "Melvin, my joy, I love you. Every day I come into your heart
at
Holy Communion. You celebrate the memorial of my Passion and Death on
the
cross each day. I change by your words of consecration the bread and
wine
into my very Body and Blood and I become food for your soul. This is
the
greatest gift I could leave you and I include all those who accept that
I am
present in the Eucharist and are members of my Church. In the Eucharist
I
come to you as the resurrected One, alive in my divinity and humanity.
I
come to occupy the place in your heart prepared for me. I call you all
to
believe that I am truly present in the Eucharist as my words confirm in
chapter 6 of St. John's Gospel where it is written, 'Whoever eats my
flesh
and drinks my blood has eternal life. . . . For my flesh is true food,
and
my blood is true drink.' Hunger my people for this bread of life and
come
often to receive me, every day if you can. Through the Eucharist you
will
receive help for your spiritual progress. Believe in the Eucharist
because
of my words and know that I am always truthful. I want to live in your
heart. I love you all."
This morning Jesus speaks of the wonderful gift and sacrament: the Holy
Eucharist. Jesus wants us to have a strong faith that He is really
present
under the species of bread and wine. When we receive the host, we
receive
the resurrected Jesus, truly alive as He is now in heaven. No wonder He
calls us to receive the Holy Eucharist often. When a person's faith
weakens,
it usually shows itself by a lack of faith in the real presence. We
should
read John chapter 6 often to refresh our minds again about the teaching
of
Our Lord on the Holy Eucharist. It is the centre and summit of our
faith and
it affects us very deeply. Through the Eucharist we can have a very
deep
relationship with Jesus present there. We can adore Him in this great
sacrament as it is done in many places today. In many dioceses there
are
places designated for perpetual adoration of Jesus in the Holy
Eucharist.
This means that adoration goes on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. May
this
great act of love multiply throughout the world. What blessings will
fall
upon mankind through this great act of adoration!
I will return to the prayer meeting this evening after being away for
two
weeks. I was traveling during the past two Wednesdays.
May the Lord increase our faith and give us a great love for the Holy
Eucharist.
