BE  ALERT,  I  WILL  NOT  DELAY

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Your joy will be full! These are the words of Jesus this morning and I
use them in greeting to you. It is cloudy again but we did not get any
snow yet. We had snow yesterday but I managed to get to the Manor and
celebrate the Holy Eucharist with the people there. My mother attended
and answered all the prayers as usual.

I was with Jesus in my prayer this morning and He spoke to me saying,
"Melvin, my loyal friend, I love you. These weeks of Advent are weeks of
waiting for me to be revealed. You are reliving the long period of the
Jewish nation as they waited for the Messiah to come. They had been told
that one would come to deliver them but they did not know exactly how
this would come about. The prophets had spoken about me in a veiled
language. Like all of you at this time, they had to practice patience as
they waited and prayed. My dear people soon your waiting will be
rewarded when the great day arrives. Your joy will be full on that great
night when my birth will be announced once more. Enkindle, my dear
friends, your faith in me. I am the one who was awaited for centuries
and now has come to change the world. Prepare your hearts so that I can
be born in you and live permanently in your heart. 'Wake up' is the call
of Advent for I am near. I am the Prince of peace and I will fill your
heart with my peace. I will turn the minds of all to peace, a peace
which the world cannot give. Let there be peace in families and
communities around the world. Come to me, my people, and you will
experience peace. Be alert, I will not delay. I love you."

During Advent, many of the first readings at Mass come from Isaiah or
one of the other prophets. These readings point to Jesus, the Messiah.
The Jews knew that the Saviour would come but they did not know when and
how this would be. Although most of them have not accepted Jesus as
their Messiah they still await Him. When I was in Jerusalem some years
ago, we had a rabbi who came to speak to us and I asked Him why the
Jewish people did not accept Jesus as their Messiah as a large part of
the world did. He said that Jesus had been rejected by the Jews of His
time but it was amazing that so many people in the world had accepted
Him as the Messiah. He then gave us a glimpse of his thought when he
said, "When the Messiah comes I will have one question for him: Is this
your first time or second time to come to earth?" A good number of Jews
though at the time of Jesus accepted Jesus as the Messiah because all
the first Christians including the Apostles were Jews. Our Blessed
Mother and St. Joseph were also Jews. This morning Jesus refers to the
time before His birth as the time of waiting and we are living this time
now in Advent. It is a time to prepare our hearts so that He can be born
in us. He has special gifts for each one of us this Christmas so let us
be ready to receive them. He talks about peace, the great gift that is
needed today in the world.

May we pray for peace in our world this season.
