WAKE UP

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Good afternoon! I just arrived from Charlottetown after a great visit to
dear friends and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist this morning at
10:30. It is mild and partly cloudy and all the snow is gone.

I was with Jesus this morning and this is what He said to me: "Melvin,
my brother and sharer in my priesthood, I love you. I am the resurrected
One. When I appeared the first time to the Apostles after I rose from
the dead, Thomas was not with them. When he was told that I had appeared
to the Apostles, he refused to believe. He said he would not believe
unless he could put his fingers in the wounds of my hands and in
my side. When I showed myself to them a second time, Thomas was there
and I invited him to come close to me. He placed his fingers in the
wounds of my hands and in the wound in my side. He then fell on his
knees and exclaimed, 'My Lord and My God.' He believed with all his
heart. I call you, my brothers and sisters, to believe that I am risen
from the dead. I am your Redeemer; I am the Son of God. I have overcome
the evil one and death too. I share my life with any person who believes
in me. I wash their sins away and I live in them. Come and learn from
me, my dear friends. You were made for me. You will find the pearl of
great price if you accept me and live together with me. I will be your
strength and your peace. Wake up for now is the time of salvation. Let
us live in intimate friendship. I love you all."

In my prayer this morning, Jesus proclaimed His resurrection. It was
difficult for the Apostles to accept at the beginning that He was risen.
Thomas was like many of the people of today: doubtful. He would not
accept the words of his fellow Apostles, he had to see for himself. Let
he be our eyes and our hands as he touches the wounds of Jesus' hands
and His side. When he saw, Thomas fell down and made his act of faith.
Indeed, all the Apostles finally accepted that Jesus was truly risen
from the dead. Let this be a proof for us all that we too should
believe. The Bible stresses that blessed are those who have not seen but
believe. Once we accept the resurrection of Jesus then all His words and
miracles make sense. He is all truth; He is God. Let us accept Him into
our hearts today. Jesus tells us all to wake up for now is the time for
our salvation. When we accept Jesus in our lives, then we change and a
new relationship begins - a relationship with Jesus Himself. What a
difference life is when we have Jesus with us.

Let us  make an act of faith in Jesus, Our Lord and Our Redeemer. Let us
become His friend.
