LET US WALK TOGETHER
Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Good morning on this partly cloudy day. We will have another warm day,
I'm sure. I have a cold which started yesterday and it gives me a
headache with a runny nose. I will celebrate the Holy Eucharist at the
Church in Palmer Road at 11:00 this morning.
I spent a half hour with Jesus early this morning. He spoke saying,
"Melvin, my brother, I love you. I am the Lord of all the world. All
power was given to me in heaven and on earth by my Father. Yet I do not
wish to rule harshly by exercising my power. I have chosen to rule by
the power of love. During my life on earth, I showed you what love is. I
did not want people to serve me but I came to serve every person. Come
to me, my dear brothers and sisters, and learn from me. I served you and
I am still serving you without counting the cost. Often the Apostles and
I had no place to lay our heads and we also went to sleep hungry at
times. It happened sometimes we were not accepted in a village. Even
though we were tired from our journey, we had to walk to another
village. At the end of my earthly life, I was betrayed by one of my
Apostles and accused of wrongs which I never committed. I was condemned
to die nailed to a cross. I accepted all this so I could redeem you and
reconcile you with the Father in heaven. It was sin that had destroyed
the loving relationship between the Father and all of you. I paid the
price for your sins and I did it because I love you. The bond with the
Father has been restored and heaven is wide open again. Believe in me
and follow me and you will obtain salvation. Let us walk together every
day. I bless you."
In Jesus' message this morning, He makes it clear that everything He did
was done out of love. This is the driving force behind His birth and His
life here on earth. He does not force us to do anything, He simply
invites us to follow Him. Although He was vested with divine power by
His Father, He prefers to act from the heart. He considers us all His
brothers and sisters and He wants to lead us gently along the way to the
promised land. We know that Jesus has never sinned for He is divine. All
the accusations against Him were false yet they condemned Him to die.
What a mockery of justice was done in His case. This shows how perverse
human beings can be. Jesus, though, forgave His killers before He died
on the cross in these words, "Father, forgive them for they know not
what they do." Let us also forgive all those who hurt us.
May we open our hearts to love Jesus who has done so much for us.
