PREPARE FOR A NEW OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning! The sun is shining this morning after the snow and rain of yesterday. The wind too has died down, so the boats must have gone out early this morning. I went to Tyne Valley yesterday and ordered more books and pictures. I had a wonderful visit with the ladies in charge of the publishing establishment. In the evening I went to bless a home near Tignish. Many ask me to come and bless their house. I was happy to see that in the house I blessed last evening, there is a prayer room. This is a wonderful idea which shows the importance people are attaching to prayer. During my morning period of prayer, Jesus was with me.

He spoke saying: "Melvin, I am Jesus risen from the dead, I love you and all my friends. You are now waiting for the Feast of Pentecost. In a few more days you will celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the beginning of the Church. I had to go, in order for the Spirit to come down. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity. He is the God of holiness who is leading you along the way to sainthood. He gives you power to resist the evil one and to follow the commandments. He gives you faith to believe in me, and the grace to pray and be a living member of my Church. The Holy Spirit is an awesome gift that Christians receive in Baptism and Confirmation. You can receive the Holy Spirit at any time if you ask in faith. Only sin can banish the Spirit from your hearts. If you repent and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Holy Spirit will return to your heart. He will teach you the truth, for He is the Spirit of truth. He is also love, the love between the Father and the Son. He is the one who fills your heart with love. Remove all resentment and He will live in your heart. Prepare during these days for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the world. May the Spirit come with power upon you all. I bless you all."

Sunday is the Feast of Pentecost and Jesus is asking us to prepare for the feast. He wants a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us and upon all the believers. We should pray every day: Come, Holy Spirit, come and fill the hearts of all the faithful. He can change us all by giving us the power to live according to God's will. Two Sundays ago at the parish here, it was the 5th session of the seminar in the Life of the Spirit. This is the day to be prayed with to receive the Holy Spirit. Over one hundred people came forward and it sure looked like a New Pentecost. Many were filled with the Spirit. Some said they felt great peace while others were full of joy. Some were healed of various sicknesses. Now Jesus wants us to prepare for the great day of Pentecost when the Spirit will come upon us again. May the Lord send the Holy Spirit on us all to strengthen us against the evil one and to walk closely with Him.
