READY TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning on this wet Friday! It seems to have rained for most of the night and it is still dark this morning. The farmers will be delayed in planting their potatoes if it continues to rain every day. I was with Jesus in prayer this morning.

He spoke to me saying: "Melvin, I love you. Remain closely united to me. The Easter season is coming to the end with the Feast of Pentecost, but in fact you live the event of the Resurrection all through the year. I am the Risen One who cannot die any more. I am the same today, yesterday and forever. The world may change and you may change but I remain your Saviour forever. The Father and I sent the Holy Spirit upon the Church and upon each one of you. We send Him to you if you ask. He comes to give you an experience of heaven and the strength you need in suffering and difficulties. Many are asking for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Some are sick and are asking for healing. Others are depressed, feel lost and their future looks very dark. Still others, have little faith and are often filled with fear. Open your hearts, my dear brothers and sisters, and the Holy Spirit will come upon you. He will make you strong against the evil one and attach you firmly to me. He will bring love and great peace into your heart. Be ready to receive Him on the Feast of Pentecost. Pray every day that many may be changed by the coming of the Spirit. I bless you all."

The Lord wants us to have expectant faith, knowing that the Lord is ready to give us the gift of the Holy Spirit if we only ask Him to come into our hearts. The Lord is very generous for He loves us as His own. He proved His love for us by His suffering and death on the cross. Jesus rose from the death in triumph to show us that we too can overcome everything with His strength. There are many today who are suffering in the world. Suffering entered the world because of sin. We need power through the Holy Spirit to go through this suffering and find peace. So much of our suffering is due to our wrong choices in life. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we will be able to change our life around and find the peace we are craving for. Let us look at an example of this. Let us take smoking. Those who smoke may suffer from any number of sicknesses including cancer and emphysema. All need the strength to kick the habit and to live a better life. I know a good number of people who were able to stop smoking by the power of the Lord. Today they are so happy that they were able to stop and now they feel so healthy and so free from this slavery. It was the Holy Spirit who gave them the power to accomplish this and He can do much more. I am leaving shortly for Alberton Parish to celebrate the Holy Eucharist at 9:00 AM. I will pray that the Lord pour out His Spirit on you all.
