BRING THE GOOD NEWS TO OTHERS
Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Good morning! It is windy and raining hard this morning but the sun
should come out this afternoon. I was at the prayer meeting last night
in Palmer Road and a large group came. It was very prayerful and many
shared how the Lord was working in their lives. We also thanked the Lord
for Pope John Paul's 24 years as Pope and for the Apostolic Letter he
signed yesterday on the rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
I spent a half hour with Jesus this morning. He spoke to me saying,
"Melvin, my brother, I love you. Today I wish to bring you to Nazareth
where I grew up. There is a synagogue in the town and I used to go there
regularly on the Sabbath. Melvin, you visited the restored synagogue
when you visited Nazareth. I was asked to read one Sabbath and I read
these words from the Prophet Isaiah: 'The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent
me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the
Lord.' I told the people that this prophecy was fulfilled that day.
Isaiah was speaking about the Messiah and I am the Messiah, the Saviour.
The people of Nazareth rejected me and they wanted to kill me but my
hour had not yet come. It is the same today, my brothers and sisters,
some accept me but many reject me as their Saviour. I died on the cross
for all people for I love them all. I call you all today to open your
heart to me. I am your friend and brother who cares for you. Repent of
all your sins and believe the Good News that I brought you. You who
believe, bring the Good News to others that they may believe too and be
saved. I want to live in your hearts today and every day. I love you."
I have very special memories of Nazareth where I spent five days while I
was in Israel. There is the beautiful Church of the Annunciation to
commemorate the visit of the Angel Gabriel to Our Blessed Mother to
announce to her that she would be the Mother of Jesus. I visited the old
synagogue where the Holy Family prayed every Sabbath day. This is where
Jesus read the words mentioned in the message today. These words can be
found in Luke 4: 16 - 30. His own people rejected Him and how sad this
must have been to Him. Many in today's world have also rejected Him.
Others have never heard of Him. We who believe are asked to bring the
Good News to those who do not know Him or know Him just in a superficial
way. Jesus is the Good News for He brings salvation. Let us always be
ready to give an account of our faith in Him.
Today, Thursday, is the day we are asked to make use of the new
mysteries of the rosary. They are the following:
1. the Baptism of the Lord in the Jordan River;
2. Jesus' self-manifestation at the wedding of Cana;
3. His proclamation of the Kingdom of God, with His call to conversion;
4. His Transfiguration;
5. His institution of the Holy Eucharist, as the sacramental expression
of the Paschal Mystery.
I thank you all for your prayers especially for Wayne Boudreau and
Michelle Thibadeau. They are still sick so please continue your prayers
for them.
May the Lord bless you with a strong faith in Him.
