GIVE YOURSELF COMPLETELY TO ME
Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
A happy Sunday morning to you all! Here the sun is shining brightly in a
cloudless sky. The little wind will make sure that it is not too hot. It
is a lovely day to go to Church to praise and adore the Lord.
I was with Jesus for my 30 minutes of contemplative prayer early this
morning. He spoke to me saying, "Melvin, my companion and friend, I love
you. My resurrection was the event that changed the world. The fact that
I rose from the dead is the basis for the faith of Christians. The
Apostles' faith in me was shattered by my death on the cross. It was
revived when they saw me alive after my resurrection. They saw the
wounds in my hands, feet and side and they believed that I was the Son
of God and their Saviour. I call you all to consider who I am. I am not
just the human being I appeared to be when I was on earth. My greatest
dignity is that I am divine, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. I
existed for all eternity with the Father and the Holy Spirit. It is my
love for you that compelled me to be born like one of you and to begin
my Church upon the Apostles. It is my love for you that sent me to the
cross to die for you. I died to wipe away your sins and to restore the
bond of friendship between you and the Father. Come and believe with all
your heart that I am your Saviour and Lord. Give yourself completely to
me and come follow me and you will inherit eternal life. I love you."
As the words of Jesus teaches us this morning, it was love that urged
Him to do all He did. It was out of love that He was born in this world
as a human being although He is divine, the Second Person of the Blessed
Trinity. It was love that urged Him to begin His public life. He
suffered out of love for us and at the end He died for us on the cross.
As He was divine, He could not remain in the tomb but by divine power
rose from the dead on the third day. By this great event, which had
never be seen in the world before, Jesus shows us that He is God and
that everything He taught us is absolute truth. Only in Him can we find
salvation. He calls us to believe in Him with all our heart and to
follow Him. If we do this then we will have eternal life which will
begin in this world and will be perfected in heaven. He calls us to live
with Him in friendship every day.
Let us thank Him for being our Saviour and let us offer ourselves
completely to Him to do His will daily.
