I WILL LEAD YOU

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning on this beautiful day. It is already sunny and it will be warm today. My sister and I took our mother for a check-up yesterday. She is doing fine and in relatively good health for her age. She has plenty of energy. She is a great walker and can put us all to shame. I was with Jesus this morning in prayer. He spoke again about marriage.

He began by saying: "Melvin, I am Jesus who lives in your heart; I love you and all who believe in me. I return this morning to the subject of yesterday: marriage. My Father is the author of marriage for He created human beings, male and female. I made marriage between a Christian man and a Christian woman a sacrament, a sign that gives grace. A Christian couple, who have received the sacrament of marriage, are to strive for holiness. Each spouse is to be a grace to the other, to lead him or her to me. The primary end of marriage is the procreation of children and the raising of these children in the faith, to know and love God. The other purpose of marriage is the fulfillment of the spouses for happiness and companionship. Together the couple must not lose the purpose why they were created: to work together with me for their salvation. Married couples are called to holiness, and they are to strive for holiness on a daily basis. They are to be the sign to the world of my love for the Church. There are many pitfalls they have to avoid. Some of these pitfalls are: (1) to conform their lives to the mentality and ways of the world concerning marriage; (2) to cheat on one's spouse by committing adultery; (3) to keep resentment and grudges and refuse to forgive; (4) to use anger in order to avoid to look at areas of improvement; (5) to be proud and putting the other down; (6) to desire the other to serve you; (7) to follow the culture of death by the use of contraception, and by agreeing to the horrors of abortion and euthanasia. You need to be close to me to avoid these pitfalls. Pray as a couple, especially give yourself to me in contemplative prayer. I will lead you. I bless you."

Jesus returns again to the subject of marriage today. He wants all to be clear as to the main purpose of marriage in God's eyes. Marriage was willed by God as a love and life-giving sacrament. Through this sacrament of love, He wants couples to bring forth children, and to bring them up to believe, know and love God and to serve Him. Children need both parents to have a good upbringing. Jesus also shows us the areas that we have to avoid. The world has a different idea of marriage than Christ. For the world it is all fun, doing whatever you desire, following your instincts and avoiding any responsibility. The world teaches us today that couples should not have children because they are too much bother. You will not enjoy yourself if you have children, they ask for too much care and responsibility. The Lord teaches us the complete opposite. Marriage is not just having fun, but a serious commitment and it involves responsibility. Couples are asked to be opened to having children, for they are the fruit of their love. If we only had the mentality of the Africans who look on children as the greatest gift of God they could receive. There are a number in our society who have this openness and they are truly blessed. Again Jesus wants couples to be close to Him. He will strengthen your marriage and lead you to a virtuous life and a holy life. The marriage all should imitate, is the marriage of St. Joseph and Our Blessed Mother. All homes should reflect the holy home of Nazareth with Joseph, Mary and the child Jesus. Jesus wants to live in your home too. Contemplation of Jesus will bring Him alive in your home every day. Then it will be truly a Christian home. Allow Him to lead you along the path to holiness. May Jesus live in your homes every day.
