SPEND  TIME  WITH  ME  TODAY

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Good morning on this partly cloudy day! It is cool but there is very
little wind. I attended the Deanery meeting at Alberton yesterday
morning and in the afternoon I was at the Manor for the Memorial Service
for the 16 residents who died during the past year. The 17th was buried
yesterday. I visited with my mother who is getting better. She got up
and sat in her chair. Her flu is over but she is still weak. Thank you
all for your prayers.
I spent a sad 30 minutes with Jesus this morning in His suffering. He
began by saying, "Melvin, I love you. Come near to me as I hang here on
the cross in great torment. My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I
feel so alone in my suffering. I know the Father is with me but it seems
He is far away. Remain close to me today, my brothers and sisters, as I
give my life for each one of you. I am nailed to this cross as a
criminal. I accept this suffering out of love for you all. I want to
remove all your sins so that you can be the beloved of my Father. Look,
they have pierced my hands and my feet and my blood is flowing from
these wounds. I am very weak from all this pain and the loss of blood.
All you who pass by without even glancing my way: turn around and come
here for I am nailed to the cross instead of you. I am your Saviour for
I have taken your place on the cross. Come and wash in my saving blood.
My blood will clean you of all your sins. I thirst for all of you. May
you all be saved. I thirst for a close relationship with you, my
friends. Do you reject me as meaningless who brings you life, the life
of God? Will you continue to live in the dark when I offer to bring you
into the light? Spend time with me today as I die for you. I love you."
What sadness filled my heart to see Jesus suffering such pain on the
cross and to see the blood flowing from His hands and His feet. The
blood also flowed into His eyes from the wounds from the crown of thorns
on His head. What a cry of anguish was His cry to His Father! He felt so
abandoned, so alone as He approached death. His death on the cross
confirms to us that He is the Saviour of the world. He wants us close to
Him for He wants our friendship. Will we reject Him today as so many do?
Will we stay in the dark still when He calls us into the light? Let us
show Him our love and let us spend time with Him. He is our greatest
friend.
The Parish Priest of Bloomfield is back so I will not have to go there
this weekend. I will stay in Palmer Road and next weekend I'll go to
Mabou, Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. I believe the retreat house is
completely booked.
Thank you again for your prayers for Wayne and Michelle. May the Lord
heal them so they may continue to work for Him.
May the blood of Christ wash us from all our sins and unite us to Him
forever.

Father Melvin
