I  AM  IN  GREAT  AGONY

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,
Greetings on another cloudy and cold morning! We had our small Christian
Community meeting last night, the first one of the season. It was very
lively with a great community spirit. We shared on the readings of the
first Sunday of Advent.

Being Friday, I was with Jesus in great suffering this morning. He spoke
to me saying, "Melvin, you who has compassion for me, come here to help
me as I have fallen again under the weight of the cross. I am on my way
to Calvary to be crucified because of your sins but now I lie in the
dust. I am so weak from the loss of blood and the beatings. I cannot see
with all the blood flowing in my eyes from the wounds on my head from
the crown of thorns. Come, Melvin, with all my friends and help me to
carry this cross. I am a worm and no man lying here in the dust of the
earth. My strength has left me and I feel near death. Yet the soldiers
shout at me and kick me to get up. Look at me, my people, and see what
your sins have caused me. I willingly took my cross with the weight of
your sins upon it so that I could die upon it and redeem you. It is out
of love for each one of you that I consented to suffer and die. You, my
friends, have such compassion for me that you console me and help me to
get up and you carry my cross behind me. When you help the poor and the
sick, you are helping me who is suffering in them. Let us continue our
journey toward Calvary for I must be nailed to the cross today. I am
your Saviour. I am in great agony for you. I love you."

What determination the Lord has to continue His journey to Calvary for
He knows it is for our salvation. His love for us urges Him on. Although
He fell on the way under the weight of the cross, He always got up,
placed His cross on His shoulders and walked on. He is the Son of God
but He is not spared this great suffering and the cruel death on the
cross. Let us be determined too to amend our lives and follow Him. Let
us put our spiritual house in order and let us keep our eyes on Him. May
He inspire us with the Holy Spirit to set a fire on the earth and to
spread His name and the message of His love.

Soon the rounds of private confessions in the various parishes will
begin. This year priests will move from one parish to another on the
appointed days for this sacrament. The Pope has ended general absolution
in the Church and all must return to one on one confession with private
absolution. I believe this is correcting an abuse which should never has
started in the first place.

Let us continue to pray for our sick especially Wayne and Michelle that
they will soon be cured through the intercession of Our Lady of Prince
Edward Island.

May the Lord give us all the gift of prayer.
