Overview:

Those of you interested in Kraftwerk will be very interested in this recording as it features Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider. 'Tone Float' is a mixture of free almost jazz-like vocal-less improvisational sounds and psychedelic music which brings to life the spontaneity of the German Da Da movement. The album opens with 'Tone Float' which is a twenty-minute formless jam session masquerading as a chance meeting between Limbus 4 and Pink Floyd. The second track 'Milk Rock' is a more structured piece based around a simple, yet funky bassline that provides the backbone for Florian to shine with some utterly freaky flute and violin work. Following this is 'Silver Forest', my favorite track on the album. If you are lucky enough to have heard the Floyd track 'Nicks Boogie/Syds Trip' from January 1967, you will notice a similarity which is frightening, especially given the fact that it would have been nearly impossible for Organisation to have heard the Floyd track. 'Rhythm Salad' (a proto-Blue Man Group percussive nightmare) brings the listener back to the formless improvisation sound which dominated the first track. The final track, Organisation spelled in reverse, has a distinguished drum beat reminiscent of 'Dramatic Theme' off of Floyds 'More' and features some outstanding violin work by Florian (it almost sounds as if he is playing a guitar!). Overall, a decent album which should appeal to a wide audience, if only for its historical relevance. The Crown Records CD release contains an extra track pushing the total CD time over 52-minutes. This extra track was taken from a May 1971 performance on 'Beat Club' and sounds very similar to the early Kraftwerk track 'Ruckstoss Gondolero' which featured the Hutter, Schneider, Rother and Dinger lineup.
