1905-11 1912-16 1917-18 1919-21 1922-27 FORMATIVE YEARS - 1905 to 1911 The Congerville (Muncie) Athletic Club dates back to at least 1910. Local newspapers provided spotty coverage of the team. An occasional reference was made to a game being scheduled and sometimes the game results with a brief game account was in the Monday paper. In 1910, the Congerville AC finished with a near-perfect 10-0-1 record, outscoring their opponents 145-0! All of the home games were played against other local Muncie teams, while the road games were played in nearby Hartford City, Dunkirk and Alexandria. Although not strong enough to stake any claims to a state title, the CAC did stake a claim to the Muncie city title by virtue of their tie against the Magic City AC. In 1911, there were 3 teams in the Muncie area that had aspirations for a city title. There was the Congerville AC, Avondale Tigers and the Muncie City team. The City team disbanded early in the season after a loss to the CAC, then reorganized as the Muncie All-Stars. But the All-Stars never actually played a game, as all their games were cancelled. The CAC and the Avondale Tigers played 2 scoreless games, but could not play a third game and each team claimed a share of the city championship. Note: all opponents are from cities and towns in Indiana, unless otherwise noted or if the city is obviously not in Indiana, such as Cincinnati or Dayton.
