First and foremost, my name is Kristen and I am a teacher. I've designed this site with teachers and learners in mind. I actually began this site when I was interning and student teaching in 1999-2000, and I've tried to continue with it as much as possible. I teach Language Arts at Dolan Middle School in Stamford, CT. You'll find on my site a whole bunch of links to different teaching sites with lesson plans and ideas for running a classroom. I've started to include my own lessons and ideas as I build my repertoire. Of course, even though teachers have such (supposedly) nice schedules, it's very hard to find time to keep a website running, amidst regular schoolwork, yearbook editing, and a growing family.
I've put this site together to add to all the others that function as portals for all the great information out there. I can't even describe how valuable the internet has been to me in my quest to become a good teacher. I haven't just thrown my list of sites together. These are ones that I haved used and that have provided me with good ideas. The other information I have available (the poems and the cool words, and quotes, for example) are here for your added enjoyment and greater edification.
As I mentioned, I don't spend a great deal of time working on this site. I do get many requests for handouts and further information, and I've answered every email. I would be happy to help any other teacher or learner with ideas and advice. My areas of "expertise" are persuasive writing, short stories, poetry, summary writing, and, as any good teacher should, grammar
I hope you enjoy my site, and keep coming back!
