40 Years in a Heartbeat 12
It was the summer of 1953, Jeff walked into the Roadhouse after ball practice, he was hot & tired & needed a quick beer before going home to Ginger & Stevie. As he walked up to the bar, he noticed the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She had long, dark brown hair & soft brown eyes. Jeff knew he would regret it for the rest of his life if he didn't get at least one dance with her. Jeff was nervous so he went to the restroom. Jeff was wearing a navy blue suit, he had to admit he didn't look too bad as he glanced in the mirror. "You do know Ginger will kill you if she finds out, kill you & take your 1-year-old son away." Jeff shrugged his shoulders & convinced himself that it was nothing more than a harmless dance. He awkwardly approached the young woman seated at the bar. "Excuse me, Miss? My name is Jeff Metcalf & I was wondering if you'd like to dance with me."

"My name is Lisa & I'd love too!!"

Jeff grabbed Lisa's hand & helped her off the stool. She fit in his arms perfectly, he was very nervous. After the song was finished, Jeff hated to let her go.

"Thank you for the dance, Mr. Metcalf."

"Please call me, Jeff. Can I buy you a drink?"

"I'd love one, thank you."

They sat down & talked, Jeff was having a great time until he noticed the time. Ginger was going to flip out. "I have had a great time, Lisa, but I must get going. Can I give you a ride somewhere?"

"That would be great, I am staying at the River Run Hotel." The drive to the hotel was a fast one, too fast for Jeff's tastes. After exchanging a few pleasantries, Lisa leaned over & kissed Jeff, a deep passionate kiss...

"Jeff, wake up!! We are going to be late for Becky's wedding."

"Good Lord, Ginger, are you finally ready? I have been waiting here so long I must've dosed off."

"Well, I can see that with my own two eyes, Buster. Must've been a nice dream. You had a smile a mile wide. Was it a baseball dream?"

"You can say that, I was about to hit a Homerun!"
