40 Years in a Heartbeat 13 | ||||
Ginger was coming down the stairs and was about to head into the kitchen for a cup of coffee when there was a knock at the door. She barely got it open when Tommy came barrelling in. "Hey, Mom!," Tommy kissed his mother's cheek. "I couldn't find my key." Ginger smiled at her youngest child, he reminded her most of Jeff. He looked exactly like he did at 25, he also possessed the same love of baseball this dad had. "Can I get you some breakfast, Sweetie?" "I get it myself, Mom. No offense, but I am aware of your deep dark secret." "Oh yeah, Buster, what exactly is that?", asked Ginger with a chuckle. Tommy looked at his mom with a totally straight face & said, "That everyone's beloved 'Aunt Ginny' can't cook!!" Jeff walked into the kitchen just as Tommy ducked the dish towel Ginger tossed his way. "Now that's not true, Tommy," defended Jeff. She fixed us that lovely Flaming Turkey for thanksgiving last year." "Now, Jeff, you know that wasn't my fault!!", Ginger pretended to pout. "I'll just leave this year's Thanksgiving turkey to you two Mr. Wisenheimers!" Jeff went over to hug Ginger & let her know the teasing was all in good fun. He couldn't resist one more little comment though. "But, Honey, what would the fire department do if they didn't get our call?" "Very funny!! I am going over to Linda's to see if I can help with anything" Jeff & Tommy could hear her all the way out the door. "where I am appreciated & loved!" Jeff looked at Tommy & couldn't keep a straight face. "It's not nice for you to tease you mom like that." |
