40 Years in a Heartbeat 14
Ginger was all alone in the house on a Saturday afternoon, Jeff had driven to Cleveland to see one of Tommy's ballgames with Hank & Charlie. She took this opportunity to get herself a nice cup of coffee & sit down in her bedroom to go through her old hope chest. She found herself doing that more & more the older she got. Ginger put everything that held any kind of special meaning to her in that trusty old thing. She smiled as she started to remove its contents. The newer, more recent memories were on top, the cards from her grandchildren, corsages from Susan's wedding last summer & a ball from Tommy's first major league hit. Further down were the beautiful baby blankets that Gina had lovingly made each of her childen. Each one had the baby's full name embroidered on them along with the birthdate. Underneath those was her Lemo Tomato Juice outfit, everytime she pulled it out she was amazed that she ever fit into that. Ginger stood up & looked into the full length mirror in her room, aside from the gray hair & the natural weight that comes with age, Ginger looked the same as she did back then. She held up the Lemo Costume & said "Oh Well, you can't stay 25 forever, Ginger!!Besides you have lived a great life with a man who adores you." Ginger knelt back down placing the costume back in the chest along with Jeff's uniform. The chest also contained 4 huge photo albums, one for each child plus one of just her & Jeff. It was a project she did for the 'Aunt Ginny Show'. She opened up the biggest album that had Jeff & Ginger Metcalf on the cover. The first picture was of her & Jeff taken at the dance contest at the Roadhouse, everytime she looked at that picture she could see how much Jeff truly adored her..
