40 Years in a Heartbeat 15 | ||||
Ginger had placed everything back into the Hope Chest, her Treasure Trove as Jeff always called it. "It is my Treasure Trove, Jeff, & it may sound corny, but I Treasure every minute that our family has ever shared." Ginger had turned her back on Jeff so he wouldn't see the tears forming in her eyes. Jeff grabbed Ginger & planted a kiss on her lips, "Gotta go, Sweetie, Charlie & Hank are outside. I love you, Ginger." Ginger recalled the bounce in Jeff's step as he headed out to meet the guys. She began to sit down in her favorite chair with a fresh cup of coffee & the latest Look Magazine when the phone rang. "Metcalf residence" 'Ginger, this is Judy, how would you like to meet me, Gina & Linda at Rupert's for some lunch & cobbler. Since the guys are away, us gals should play.' "That sounds great, I will meet you there in about 30 minutes?" 'That's perfect, Doll! See you then.' Ginger hung the receiver up, she had to smile thinking back at how her & Judy met. It was actually quite amazing how any of them became friends, Linda's fiance dumped her to be with Gina. Now they were all related in one way or another to each other. Ginger was glad that hank finallly found piece of mind with Judy. Sarah's death had affected him more than anyone ever knew. Years later, Jeff had recounted the day of his mother's wedding to Al Kahn & how Jeff found Hank atop Kirkland Hill with a loaded pistol. Jeff told her that everyday he thanks god for letting him make it there on time. Ginger grabbed her purse & was out the door, she needed to stop at Brandstaetter's before her lunch with her friends. |
