| Completely wound up after watching Tommy score the winning run at his ballgame, Jeff couldn't sleep. He went downstairs to get himself a drink of water, when he walked in the room he was taken aback. The moonlight was streaming in over Ginger's beautiful face. Jeff couldn't help but think back to the very first time her ever met Miss Virginia Szabo. ******* Jeffy Metcalf was sitting by the curb watching the neighbors move in acrossed the street. I sure hope they have an 8 year-old boy that I can play baseball with, thought Jeffy. "That'll show that darn Hank & his snooty friend Mike & especially that rotten Charlie Hailey. Mutt... I'll show him who's a Mutt!!" muttered Jeffy. He was so caught up in his anger that he didn't notice the little girl who approached him. "Hello! What is your name?" asked the prissy little girl with the ruffly pink dress & white gloves. Great, thought Jeffy, another stupid girl! "My name is Jeff Metcalf, say, do you have any boys at your house?" "My name is Virginia Szabo, but all my friends call me Ginger. No boys in my house, sorry!" Jeffy noticed that all they seemed to be carrying in were girl things. "Well, I am going to play ball then, because I have a sister & I know girls are really crummy." He couldn't stop staring at her though, she looked nothing like Linda, who never wore anything but dirty overalls. "I think you will take that back when I am a big movie star. Besides, you are kinda cute." Ginger gave Jeffy a quick peck on the cheek. "YUCK, what did you go & do that for?" Jeffy wiped his cheek off with his ball glove. ******** It is amazing how times changed, now he couldn't get enough of her kisses. Jeff slipped back under the covers & snuggled up next to Ginger. "Man, I sure love you," he whispered. |
