Tommy watched in horror as Emma lifeless body hit the ground with a thud. He looked at the person who hurt his beloved Emma, it was the nice lady who talked funny & had been watching him play at his school. Only now when Tommy looked at her, she didn't look so nice, her face was twisted with a snarled grin. ********* Jeff was walking through the livingroom looking for Tommy & Emma, he had come home early & thought he'd relieve Emma from her duty. Secretly he just wanted to play with Tommy. He heard his son give a blood-curdling cry. Jeff ran through the house to the backyard, where the cry originated. "TOMMY!!", cried out Jeff. Jeff stepped out into the backyard just in time to see his son wiggle away from a shadowed figure. Tommy ran straight for his dad. "DADDY!!! Daddy, Carrie hurt Emma," Tommy's words were salt & peppered with sobs. "Daddy, we have to save her." Jeff scooped Emma up in his arms, placing her inside his car. "Hurry, Tommy, get inside the car." Jeff urged his son. ********* Jeff could hear Charlie Hailey bellowing long before he ever saw his friend. "WHERE IS SHE! I HAVE TO SEE MY DAUGHTER!!MUTT!! MUTT!" Charlie was glad to see a familiar face even if it was Jeff Metcalf. "What exactly happened?" "I don't know Charlie, I got home & heard Tommy screaming so I ran to the backyard in time to see him get away from someone, I was just about to chase her when I saw Emma on the ground so we got her here right away." Charlie looked stunned. "Who was grabbing Tommy? Is this the same person who hurt my Emma?" Jeff tried to remember everything that Tommy told him before he fell asleep in the waiting room chairs. "Tommy said a woman had been watching him at the park & school for a few days, she came into the backyard & hit Emma & tried to grab him. He said she talked funny. Like Gina does, but not the same. What did he say her name was?." "Think, Mutt, THINK!!" "Carrie. He said her name was Carrie" Charlie's face went pale as if he had just seen a ghost! "For god sakes, Charlie, what?" "I know who did this, Mutt! I know who hurt our babies." |
