Tommy 28 |
It was the perfect weather for a ballgame, the sun was shining & it was just a tad breezy, there was enough wind to keep the ballplayers somewhat cool but not enough that it effected how the ball flew. Jeff always loved to play on days like this. He was on cloud nine, he was going to his son's first at bat during a major league game with his favorite gal on his arm. What could go wrong? Ginger's day wasn't going as well. She had been up all night, tossing & turning, thinking about Jeff with his little Tramp. She never imagined that Jeff would have an affair, but it was even worse that he carried on right under her nose practically. After Tommy's game she was going to talk to Jeff about it. She just didn't want to spoil Tommy's day. Ginger continued to brush her hair with the biggest fake smile she could muster on her face. ********** The proud parents found their seats in the stands, which happened to be a section over from where Sam sat. Sam spotted Jeff with Ginger,. Goodness, Sam thought, Tommy's mother was even more beautiful in person. I hope she likes me. Sam was more nervous about meeting Ginger than she had been with Jeff. Catching his eye she waved. He thought Ginger wasn't looking so he waved back. Ginger caught Jeff's waving hand out of the corner of her eye & glanced over to the direction he was waving in. There she was, bold as you please, Jeff's floozy & wearing one of Jeff's old jerseys. Jeff told Ginger he would be right back, he wanted to wish Tommy good luck. After declining to go with him, Ginger got up from her seat & walked over to Sam, "I have a few things to say to you." Ginger started. "Hello, Mrs. Metcalf," Sam replied warmly. Ginger was shocked that this girl knew who she was. "I see you already know who I am, well then there should be no miscommunication. I know who you are & I know what kind of woman you are. You see a ballplayer & all the glitz & glamour that goes along with it. But I am standing here to tell you, you had better stay away from him." Ginger leaned in closer to a dumbfounded Sam. "Because if you don't, missy, you will have me to deal with." Ginger turned & walked away. Sam was so upset that Tommy's mother wanted her to stay away from him she couldn't even speak. She just got up & moved to another part of the stands. Even though she wanted to run out of the ballpark, she still had a job to do. |
