Tommy 4
Tommy couldn't take his eyes off of the beautiful stranger as he placed the receiver back in it's spot on the payphone.  He was curious as to why she was wearing a Metcalf #4 Jersey.  He started what seemed like an endless walk to her, just as he was within ear shot Casey Bradshaw, a teammate came out of the locker room & approached her.  Tommy walked up to the two of them not knowing what to say.  "Hey, Metcalf, that was a great hit you got out there today."  The mysterious girl seemed self conscious that she was wearing a Metcalf jersey.

"Thanks, Bradshaw, you didn't do so bad yourself, how many homers did you hit today?" Tommy was talking to Casey but looking at his friend.

Casey Bradshaw was a good-looking guy with dark hair & eyes, he also had a great sense of humor & was pleasant to be around.  "Only 8 today, but who is counting," he chuckled. "Tommy Metcalf, this is Sam.  Sam is a really big fan of your dad's.  She knows his stats better than he does, I bet."

Samantha extended her hand to Tommy, "Samantha Bradshaw." Her eyes were a warm brown and seemed to light up when she smiled.

Bradshaw! Tommy's heart ached a bit.  Could this be Casey's wife?  Tommy started feeling foolish that he had gotten so excited and even practically hung up on his dad to meet someone else's wife.  "Pleased to meet you Mrs. Bradshaw.  My dad would be thrilled to know that he had such a lovely fan."

Casey started to roar with laughter at Tommy, "Good grief, Metcalf, this is my sister not my wife!  She flew down from Toledo with my girlfriend to visit this weekend."  He turned to Sam "Speaking of, where is Lindsay?"

Samantha rolled her eyes. "Putting on her face."

"Say, Metcalf , why don't you join the 3 of us for dinner. I bet Sam can't wait to ask you a million questions about the great Jeff Metcalf, like what kind of toothpaste does he use?" Casey was enjoying teasing his sister a little too much for her tastes.

"Colgate" both Tommy & Sam said in unison.

Tommy looked at her & said "I would love to have dinner tonight."
