The day after the tragedy has come, I think about what lies ahead, What can I do to help, What more can be said. I cannot fight like a soldier, For that is not my destiny, I cannot search the rubble, That was not meant for me. I cannot fight the fires, That still rage today, I am not a fire fighter, What more can I say? I cannot repair an injury, Or bring back a life, Taken so tragically, In this moment of strife. I have so many I cannots, Running through my head, There must be an I can, Something I can do, I said. A feeling of warmth filled my soul, As the list of I cans came to mind, A list much longer than my cannots, I thought of ways to be kind. I can donate my blood, Or send a twenty or two, I can pray to God, For the fallen and you. The list goes on forever, There is something we all can do, Just follow your heart, For there lies the clue.
