Frustration With People!! ![]() So, my roommate Lyssa and I went to Wal-Mart Sunday night and got some stuff. It was dark out so I didn't notice till Monday morning when I walked out to my vehicle to go to work that someone had HIT MY CAR! Most of the bottom half of the driver's side back door is dented in and part of the driver's side front door has a small dent in it. It looks like someone got me on their way into or out of the parking space beside me. It looks pretty bad. But you know the loser who hit me failed to try to find me or even just leave me a note or something! People are so dishonest and dishonorable sometimes it makes me want to lose faith in them. So my Dad wants me to get quotes on how much it will be to get fixed before I even think of making a claim on the insurance. The car is actually in my Mom's name and I am paying for it and am on their insurance (which I also pay for the policy for my car), and he would rather I NOT make a claim even though I'm paying for FULL COVERAGE. So now I have to go play the "let's make a deal" game with some Auto Body shops in town and see who will rip me off the least. What a wonderful idea, let's take advantage of the stressed out female who isn't even at fault for the damage to her car. I'm just not looking forward to this, and it looks like I'm going to have to pay for it even though it's not my fault. FIGURES . . . I got two estimates this evening on fixing the car. Estimate #1: $1,358 Estimate #2: $1075 I will get some more estimates in the morning, but this is not looking like it will be at all cheap. . . ------------------------------------------------------- On a positive note, I am getting out of town for the weekend and am going to Radcon, a Science Fiction Convention in Pasco, WA ( http://www.radcon.org ). I am looking forward to hanging out with the other geeks and getting into some intelligent conversation over the weekend! 2006-02-16 17:07:45 GMT

Since you paid the insurance, if your faimily dosn't want to file a claim they should pay for the repairs. If they do not, let them have the car back as it is. You are in a position to get a good used car on your own credit. Or subtract the repairs from Edmunds price and offer that amount to get the car in your name with your own loan, on second though that would probably make them upside down on the loan (owe more than the car is worth) and they couldn't pay it off. Find out exactly how much they own and offer to buy the car for that price. You will need a car loan, look around for a credit union. You may have to bite the bullet on the repairs (at least try to get them to go halvesies) to keep peace in the family, but get that car in your name and under your insurance. The car loan will also probably help your credit rating.
