A Bad Day At The Office / Haven't Heard From Tom??

Hello All,
Well, in a shocking surprise to me on Monday, the powers that be at Gonzaga University have decided not sign me on as a permanent employee. I am currently in a Term Position that lasts until May 31st, so I'm now scrambling to find a new job.

Chances are excellent that new job will be in Seattle.

My boss decided that even though I'm a great employee (he has told me this in person and in writing over the past several months) that somehow I'm not the "perfect fit" for our office. It's total BS if you ask me, but that's my personal opinion.

My bosses have decided to reopen my position as yet another 18 month Term Position for Application of outside folks in May. They say I can reapply, that I may be better than the other applicants, but the stack seems heavily weighed against me. So if any of you have like 4 years PC Tech experience in a school or corporate environment or a BS in Computer Science or the like and are looking for work, GU isn't a bad place to be.  I will probably reapply but even if I am rehired, I'm not sure I really want to work for my boss anymore since he seems so determined to stab me in the back. . .

So anyway, I do need a PC Technician/Help Desk Technician job here in the NEAR future and it needs to pay upwards of $25-$30k/yr just to keep me solvent. (yeah, I got used to making $40k at GU, to go anywhere else looks like it will mean a MAJOR pay cut, but I seem to have no choice)

So now I'm back to square one.  Yeah, I get to start over, again. ..  This seems to be the story of my life.  And I am unsure why people always have to be so mean to me.  I try very hard to get people to see that I am a wonderful person, I'm likeable and fun and giving.  But somehow, the word "doormat" tatooed in invisible ink on my forehead seems to be not so invisible to others.

In other news, I was supposed to have a date with Tom this weekend.  Saturday we were supposed to go Bowling, but he got called in to work to take a Trailer House and it's owners to Seattle (a 5 - 6 hour drive one-way).  He promised to call me Sunday and that we would get together then, but I have not heard from him at all.  Now knowing the nature of his work he may have gotten stuck out in Seatte to help set up the trailer (this could take a few days to complete) and it's possible the batteries on his cell phone have died.  But I still think it would have been good common courtesy for him to call me at a minimum.  So, on one hand I'm kinda annoyed.  On the other, I can't fault a man for working.  So I shall wait and see if I hear from him later this week I guess.
