The Ups and Downs of Being a Female Computer Geek
Just Another Wednesday

I'm back at work this morning.  Felt under the weather on Monday and Tuesday so it's really nice to be back.  I actually missed work.

On Tuesday afternoon I ended up having to go up to Newport, WA to turn in my application for a county job with the Sherrif's Office.  They need a computer geek to do most everything for them from Workstation Maintenance, to Server Backups, and even have a Cisco IP Phone System.  Funny thing is, it pays less than my current job, with more responsibility.  I believe I know 85-90% of what the job entails but will still have to learn a few things.  Especially the Cisco IP Phones.  But, overall, I believe it would be a really good experience for me.

The application for this job was 15 pages long.  It asked everything from where I lived for the last 10 years to who I owed money.  I've never been asked so much and had to jump through so many hoops to get a job.  Hopefully my effort will be worth it.  There was one page of the App. I had to have notarized even..   I still have to go back up on Thursday to take a Civil Service Test and they need a copy of my birth certificate...  (so much fun)

I FINALLY got to talk to Marc on the phone!!!  I'm glad I finally got to hear his voice!  Still looking forward to meeting him. Image

Last weekend I went skating at Patterson's Skate Center with friends and I began learning how to skate on Rollerblades.  Amazingly, I did NOT fall!  So, I've proven I can skate on them, but am still at a loss on the whole stopping thing.  The stopper on the back of my right skate is just weird to me.  All of my common reactions on skates don't really work with Rollerblades. . .  I want to continue to learn how to do this though, so I will probably be back at the skate rink next weekend.

Not much else going on today.  Finished a workorder that I had to wait for a week for 2 surge protectors so I could plug in some PCs.. Not a real big deal.   I have English class today so I won't get out of here till 5:30PM.
