The Ups and Downs of Being a Female Computer Geek
Geeky Weekend?

Well, I had a blast at work on Friday!  I got to go out to Catherine-Monica Residence hall here where I work at Gonzaga University and help the incoming students (mainly freshmen) get their PCs hooked up to the network ports in their rooms and onto the Internet.  Everything I touched worked!!  There were a lot of parents who were happy to see an IT person there to help their son or daughter get their Internet Connection up and running so they wouldn't miss that ever-important email from home.

Saturday was fun, I actually had the day off because our Boss was trying to stagger who was working Saturday and Sunday this weekend.  (Usually we don't work weekends at all, but since this was the weekend the students came back we are open to help them)  Saturday I took Ryan to Manito Park and we found some kids his age that do Live Action RolePlaying.  It's like playing Dungeons and Dragons but instead of being turn-based around a table with dice, it's all simultaneous with folks who dress up like their character and run around smacking each other with foam padded swords and casting "spell" by repeating encantations quickly at one another whilst trying to achieve some goal.  It was actually a lot of fun to watch and I think Ryan wants to go back and play.  I will admit that even I was interested in playing..

Saturday evening I went to Tim Martin's house to an OPLAN/21st birthday bash for our friend Peppi.  They were all having a blast at his place running a small LAN Party, drinking, and eating the wonderful baked items Tim's wife Jorgi makes SO well. (She makes cookies and cakes for our LAN Parties all the time and she is Awesome!)  Then my boyfriend Sean S. called and I met up with him and his friends: Jeff, Chastity, and I think Chastity's sister's name was Jennifer, but I'm not sure I am remembering correctly.  I BSed with his friends and I think I made a great impression on them.  So far, all the friends that Sean has introduced me to have liked me, but then, just about everyone who ever actually made the effort to know me likes me.

Today I am back at work to help the Students get their PCs on the Internet.  I never thought I'd have to do work on Mac PCs..  But I am off to one of the Residence Halls to try and get one onto the network!  Yipee!
