The Ups and Downs of Being a Female Computer Geek
I am such a WIMP!!!

Well, this weekend proved one thing to me, that I am one of the world's biggest WIMPS.  I managed to hike the first day for the full 4 miles of the hike and I made it to camp, but was among the LAST to make it.  I had worn a blister on my pinkie toe of my left foot that was pretty painful. . .  The ROTC guys (who were helping us out with this by driving lead and follow vehicles and setting up our campsite for us) "patched" me up.

Dinner was the usual "Pilgrim's" stew and I got to BS with the few "Adults" (i.e. other staff who went, about 12 of us, the other 138 hikers were all students), most of which, like Mrs. Florence Robins didn't hike, but just drove to the camp and helped set up dinner and such.  She was happy to see I made it.  We did the usual praise and worship stuff with the students and I got a few students interested in playing with my "Simon" - the funny part about that is that a lot of the college kids did NOT know what a "Simon" was. . .  I got some descent pictures of the scenery and such as well.

The second day was a 10.1 mile hike, mostly uphill.  I talked to the coordinator, Sara and she said the lead folks would "slow down" to a more reasonable pace, but it didn't happen, and I ended up being left behind to be the slowest/last person.  My foot hurt pretty badly from the blister, I ended up hiking 2.5 miles then simply giving up and riding in the van the rest of the trip.  I felt bad about not hiking the whole way like almost everyone else, but for me, it was a total of 6.5 miles, my personal best, and it was my first hiking trip.  So I'm not sure whether I would say it was successful or not.

We hiked to "The Old Mission", it is the oldest standing building in Idaho.  It was the first Jesuit Mission in the Northwest.

NO Wendy Lady, an wimp would be the one who stayed home and ate chips and bon bons, you got out and got it done. It may not have been pretty but it was your first time out. So all you need to do is keep trying. I am very proud of you. Keep it up kid.

HE HE HE!!! That is awesome that you went! Did you know what you were in for? Mikey escaped without going on a backpacking trip with me... Only the strong-willed and stubborn can make it...
You can handle a little preaching here and there...
Oh, and what is a "Simon"???

Yep Yep I agree with Michael up there. At 6.5 miles you have me beat unless you count all the endless walking on campus and at the hospital hiking...lol. Kepp it up girly and stay strong. I know you can do whatever you set your mind to! :)
