Summary

There is no informantion provided in the series that explains when Lady Une and Treize Khushrenada met. We first see Lady Une standing by Treize's outdoor spa. And yes, Treize is in the spa, and is probably naked. He assigns her on a mission to assassinate Vice Minister Darilan. There isn't much action early in the series-- their relationship is strictly commander and subordinate and most of their interaction is military reports. However, you can tell that Treize is fairly laid back and Lady Une is a bit more up-tight. She often performs interesting tasks such as pouring Treize's wine and seems to take care of him more than a chief-aid normally does.
Perhaps the first incident that reveals that their relationship is a little more than military is when Lady Une gets upset because Treize tells her (through Noin) to be "more graceful". Lady Une is clearly hurt by these words. It is apparent that she wants to be perfect for Treize. When her New Edwards Base plan failed, Treize told her not to worry about making mistakes, "because it is only human". Lady Une begins to doubt that she truly understands him, but she will be loyal to him anyway, as proved by her actions to actually fight in a mobile suit, something that she doesn't do quite often. She seems very concerned for Treize's safety, more than a officer normally does.
Then the split-personality arises. Lady Une's harsher image was fighting for Treize's ideals, where as the saintly one spoke of those ideals in speeches. [In the manga, it appears that she does not actually have a split-personality; instead, she forms an alter-ego in order to become an ambassador. Others might not agree with me, but that's my point of view.] Unfortunately, she starts to confuse his ideas with her own, which causes a small argument between the two. Lady Une decides to go out in a mobile suit and "fight for Mr. Treize's ideas." Treize realizes this and contacts Zechs (who is actually going by his real name, Milliardo, in this scene, and happens to be in a mobile suit, too, at the time) and tells him, "Only one other person understands me. Her feelings toward me have caused her to have a split-personality." Zechs asks, "You mean Lady Une?" "Yes, I have caused the person closest to me to feel uncomfortable." Treize goes on to ask him to please take her off the battlefield.
Lady Une learns that Tubarov, a colonel with Romefeller that she's not particular fond of, has cut off the air supply to the captive gundam pilots. So she goes to the Lunar Base and not only turns the air back on, but also set the pilots free, claiming that it was what Trieze wanted. Unfortunately, Tubarov finds and shoots her in the control room.
Treize, who is in confinement for resigning as commander-in-chief of OZ, lives in a melancholy state, and sits in the dark, looking at the scan of Eypon, the gundam he and Lady Une created, on his computer. Lady Une was in a coma and had very little chance for survival. Heero Yuy is called to Treize's estate, and he gives the gundam pilot Eypon. Treize also gives Heero a chance to kill him, but is refused.
After Relena became queen of the world, Duke Dermail was killed and the Romefeller didn't know what to do. Treize knew that this was the perfect time to get re-involved with the war. He exonerated Relena of her duties and assumed responsibility as ruler of the Earth. Milliardo became head of White Fang, who was against the Earth Alliance. When the Lunar Base sent all the injured soldiers to Earth, they brought Lady Une with them. He was allowed to visit her before her had to attend a press conference. Through she was unconscious and could not heard him, he admitted his love for her and promised her that he would fight for what they believed in. At the conference, her declared war on the White Fang.
In the Tallgeese II, Treize was ready to battle Milliardo. Milliardo was about to push the light beam cannon when Dorothy stopped him. In a hospital on Earth, a certain lady in coma miraculously opened her eyes. Milliardo pushed the button and a gundam appeared out of nowhere and pushed the Tallgeese II out of the way of the cannon. Treize asked the pilot of the gundam that saved him if they all right. He was surprised to find the pilot was Lady Une. "One must be in the battle to truly understand it's beauty," she told him.

Lady Une went to the mobile doll system spacecraft, because Treize wanted to fight with Wufei. Although he was a pretty good gundam pilot, it was obvious that Trize was way better at fencing and although Wufei was a pretty good fencer, he was a better pilot. And because Treize won the sword fight, Wufei was to win the gundam battle. "You are an evil man, Treize. People die in your honor, but do you care?" asked Wufei. Treize contacted Lady Une. "Lady, how many people have died today?" he asked her. "About 800 soldiers," she answered. "Give me there names later. Thank you," he said and turned his commutation device off. "I will remember everyone of those soldiers that died for me," he told. "I don't believe you!" shouted Wufei as he stabbed the Tallgeese II. "Wufei, I don't think you know this, but I believe you are beginning to understand me," said Treize. "Oh, no! What have I done!" cried Wufei as he realized that Treize was the only one that understood him. "Lady, Millardo, I'll see you on the other side," said Treize. And with that the Tallgeese II exploded and Treize was gone forever.

"Tell the White Fang we surrender," said Lady Une. "What!" exclaimed a solider. "This is so humiliating! Don't make me repeat this!" she ordered. The White Fang accepted the surrender of the Earth Alliance. When Relena, Sally, and Howard arrived on the mobile doll system, Lady Une handed a gun to Relena. "Please. I'm like a body with no soul. You can have revenge for your father," said Lady Une. But Relena refused to kill her. Meanwhile Milliardo and Heero were fighting. Heero won the battle and Milliardo disappeared. The world peace began, but it didn't stay that way.

On Christmas Eve, AC 196, the first anniversary of world peace and the end of the war, Lady Une attended a Christmas party with Lucretzia. Lady Une, Lucrezia, and Sally had formed a group know as the Preventers. While they were at the party Sally was patrolling space. But it was is space that the next battle was going to be. A little girl, only seven years old, was going to try and take over the world. The little girl was trying to follow her father's footsteps, however she wasn't at all. This little girls name was Mariemeia Khushrenada, Treize's daughter from a brief marriage to Lisa Barton. Lady Une was getting calls to stop Mariemeia. She didn't know that Treize was ever married, little lone that he had a daughter. Apparently, it was an arranged marriage, he divorced her after five months. Lisa died two years after that and Mariemeia was raised by her grandfather. "We're doing all we can," she kept telling the callers. After sitting down the phone for the dozenth time, the door to her office opened. Lady Une gasped. It was Milliardo. "Hello, I'd like to join the Preventers. I'll need a code name. I like wind."

Milliardo went to fight along side his beloved Lucrezia. All the gundam pilots appeared and helped them battle. Mariemeia had kidnapped Relena, however Heero began to shoot at the palace. As palace began to collapse, Lady Une saved Mariemeia and Relena. Mariemeia asked who she was. "You are not following the path of his excellently Mr. Treize Khushrenada," replied Lady Une. She raised her hand to slap Mariemeia and said, "I'm sorry to have do this." However, it was Relena slapped Mariemeia instead. When Mariemeia's grandfather, Dekim, pointed the gun at Relena she said the oh too familiar words, "Go ahead and shoot me." Mariemeia jumped in the way and took the bullet. Lady Une pulled out her gun and pointed it at Dekim. But it was not Lady Une who shot Dekim, it was a former OZ solider who did. Heero came and said he'll put Mariemeia out of her misery, but he ran out of bullet and faints. Of course everyone thought Mariemeia was dead or dying, but Lady Une said "This girl still has a chance to live. Get a doctor!" Mariemeia was rushed to the hospital. Lady Une became her legal guardian, and often took the recovering Mariemeia to Treize's grave.

Proof She Loves Him

Have you ever heard Lady Une's image song? Even you don't speak Japanese, there is a line in English that just jumps out at you: "In love with you Do anything for you".
It is quite obvious that Lady Une is very loyal to Treize. She's risked her life for him on numerous occasions, and would do anything to sparkle in his eye. After his death, she adopts his daughter-- by another women! She actually started the Preventers in order to try and use Treize's ideals. Her love for him is based a lot on her undying loyality.

Proof He Loves Her

Well, it's obvious that Treize must trust Lady Une a lot in order to let her see him in the spa, when he is more than likely in the buff. He trusts her with a lot of important missions, even though she failed on them. Lady Une eventually became his second-in-command and was the soldier he worked closest to. I think that he started to fall for her, but didn't quite realize it until the scene when he asks Zechs/Milliardo to save her. And of course, he becomes depressed when Lady Une is in a coma.
I think that Treize would have asked Lady Une to marry him it he didn't die. They seemed to be the closest couple on Gundam Wing.

Rumors and Myths

Myth: Lady Une's first name is Anne.
The truth?: There is absolutely no evidence that Anne is her first name. In fact, her real name is never acutally stated.

Myth: Lady Une is really Mariemeia's mother.
The truth?: That statement is totally false. Lady Une is twenty in Endless Waltz, and Mariemeia is seven, which would means that Lady Une would have given birth to her when she was thirteen!! No, I'm sorry guys, Leia Barton is definitely Mariemeia's birth mother. Lady Une is often noted on websites to be Mariemeia's adpotive mother.

Myth: There is a deleted scene where Lady Une and Treize kiss.
The truth?: No, not to my knowledge. I wish there was such a scene. But no, there isn't even a scene where they admit there love for each other. :...(

Myth: Lady Une must not be too close to Treize, because she calls him "Mr. Treize" all the time.
The truth?: First of all, she doesn't call him that all of the time. Second, it's merely translation problems. The Japanese phrase is "Treize-san". It's not that she's not close to him; she just wants to show repect to him because he is higher in rank. However, I've never seen Gundam Wing in Japanese (just Endless Waltz), but I believe that she calls him "Trieze-sama", which implies that he is the leader. (And he is!) The same is with Mobile Suit Gundam-- the White Base crew (excluding Mirai) call Bright Noah "Mr. Bright" in the English verison because it's "Bright-san" in the Japanese. (A MSG side note: Mirai does not call him "Mr. Bright"/"Bright-san" because they view each other on the same level.)

Myth: Lady Une draws Treize's bath for him.
The truth?: After seeing the entire series, I've never seen this happen. This is fanfiction thing. Many stories have Lady Une drawing his bath for him. What actually happens in the TV series is Treize is in the spa (no, not an outdoor bathtub) and Lady Une is just standing there. Many fanfiction writers often make Lady Une more of maid or servant to Treize, which is totally untrue (that's why it's fanfiction). Sure, she may pour his wine, but she doesn't wait on him hand and foot. Let me reminder you that she is his chief-aid, not chief maid.

Myth: Lady Une is Middie Une.
The truth?: Er.. no. First of all, Middie is blonde. Lady Une is brunette. Middie is about four years younger than Lady Une. However, they are supposed to be related, according to the Episode Zero.
