The Path I Choose

So many paths have been chosen for me,
The paths my life would take.
Paths fate chose, and people too,
Saying it was all for 'my' sake.

But now, as I stand here before you,
The woman I am now, today.
I watch golden sunlight surround you,
And I know it is lighting my way.

I care not if fate tries to stop me,
Or what people might say or might do.
Because, my dearest, now I know,
The path I choose is you.

Every path up to this moment,
Has led me right here by your side.
Yes there've been heartaches, and there've been tears,
Even times when my heart's had to hide.

But somehow when I look at you,
All of that pain disappears.
And my heart and soul start smiling at last,
Happy that you're finally here.

Yes, so many paths have been chosen for me,
By fate and by people too.
But my dearest love, for now and for life...
Yes, ever, my path will be you.
