Story:
The Lucky Chance is above all an indictment of arranged marriages. Young Leticia Bredwell has been purchased as a bride for the revolting old Sir Feeble Fainwood. Feeble's friend, Sir Cautious Fulbank, also bought himself a bride, Julia, who-like Leticia-is in love with another younger, poorer man. The women and their lovers determine to end this tradition of marital servitude before Leticia must consummate her marriage and Feeble's daughter, Diana, becomes the next victim.

Some reviews:

"...It has been given an agile production by Jules Wright and is wonderfully strongly cast with Harriet Walter and Katherine Pogson as the young beauties,
Denis Lawson and Alan Rickman as their chaotic suitors and Paul Bacon and Jonathan Adams as the old lechers. ..."
Sheridan Morley, Punch

"...Alan Richman as Gayman gains some much-needed laughs as he finds women literally laid at his feet and
Denis Lawson makes Bellmour an amusing, ever-anxious suitor. ..."
Milton Shulman, Evening Standard
